Delete your account in the app
You can delete your SplitSama account and its data at any time, for free, from inside the app.
- Open SplitSama and go to the Account tab.
- If you use SplitSama on more than one phone, first open Your devices and sign out the other phones.
- Scroll down and tap Delete my account.
- Read what will be deleted, type DELETE and confirm.
Your phone needs an internet connection, so the deletion reaches the other people in your groups.
Can't open the app?
If you no longer have the app or your phone, email splitsama@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my SplitSama account". Send it from the Google account you sign in with. We will reply within 30 days and explain how to remove your data.
You can also remove these yourself, without the app:
- Your Google Drive backup: in Google Drive, open Settings > Manage apps > SplitSama > Options > Delete hidden app data.
- SplitSama's access to your Google account: at myaccount.google.com/connections, choose SplitSama and remove its access.
What is deleted
- Your name, email and payment details. Other people see "Deleted user" instead.
- Your membership of every group: you leave them all.
- Your ownership of any groups you own. They no longer have an owner, and every remaining member can edit them, lock them or delete them.
- Your encrypted backup in your Google Drive, and SplitSama's access to your Google account.
- All SplitSama data and keys on the phone you delete from, including your personal expenses.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
What is kept, and for how long
- Shared expenses. Expenses you were part of stay in your former groups, under "Deleted user", so everyone else's balances still add up. They are kept until the group's members delete them or the group.
- Encrypted data on our relay. Group data stays encrypted on the relay so the remaining members can sync. If nobody uses a group for 12 months, its data is removed from the relay; members' phones still have it and send it again if the group is used later. We cannot read it or link it to you. Messages in personal inboxes are deleted after 90 days.
- Subscription records. Deleting your account does not cancel SplitSama Pro. Cancel it in Google Play first. Purchase records are kept by Google and RevenueCat (linked to a random customer ID, not your name or email) as needed for billing and the law.
- Crash reports. Anonymous crash reports already sent to Sentry are kept for a limited time, then deleted automatically. They never contain your name, email or expenses.
