SPLITSAMAAbout these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and SplitSama, an independent developer ("we", "us"), for your use of the SplitSama app for Android (app ID com.cadence.splitsama). By installing or using SplitSama you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
You must be 18 or over to use SplitSama.
Your account
- You sign in with your Google account. Keep your phone and Google account secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- Your data is end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read, recover or edit it for you. Your daily Google Drive backup, or a backup file you keep, is the way to get your data back on a new phone.
- If you lose a backup file's passphrase, nobody can open that file, including us.
- You can delete your account at any time in Account > Delete my account, as described in the Privacy Policy and on our account deletion page.
Groups, invites and shared data
- In an open group, anyone with its invite link or QR code can join. Share invites only with people you trust, or turn on "Approve new members". You are responsible for who you invite and approve.
- What you add to a group or shared expense, including your name, photo, payment handles and comments, is visible to the other people in it and stays on their phones.
- Only add friends' details, such as an email or phone number, if you have their permission.
- Balances, suggested payments and currency conversions are worked out from what members enter and from published exchange rates. Check them before you pay or ask for payment.
Payments between friends
Settle-up and reminders only open your payment app or a message for you. SplitSama does not move money, is not a bank or payment service, and is not part of any payment between you and others. We are not responsible for payments made or not made, wrong payment details, or disputes between users.
SplitSama Pro
- Free and Pro. Splitting expenses is free and unlimited. SplitSama Pro adds extra features, listed in the app. We may move features between Free and Pro.
- Subscription. Pro is a subscription sold through Google Play. The price is shown in the app before you buy and is charged to your Google Play account.
- Renewal. Pro renews automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge, in the app under Manage subscription or in Google Play's subscription settings. After you cancel, Pro stays until the end of the period you paid for.
- Your account. Pro follows your SplitSama account on all your phones. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies.
- Price changes. Price changes apply from your next renewal, and Google Play will tell you before they take effect.
Acceptable use
Do not use SplitSama to break the law, to harass or defraud anyone, or to share content that is illegal or that you have no right to share. Do not overload, attack or misuse the sync relay, try to read other people's data, get around Pro, or copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app.
We may block devices from the relay if they break these terms.
Our app
- SplitSama, its name, logo and design belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on your devices under these terms. The content you add belongs to you.
- The app relies on Google, Cloudflare, Expo, RevenueCat and Sentry, which have their own terms. Exchange rates come from ExchangeRate-API.
- We may update, change or stop parts of the app, including the sync relay. Some updates may be required to keep syncing.
Disclaimers and liability
SplitSama is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it reliable but do not promise it will be error-free, that sync or backups will always be available, or that data will never be lost.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost money between users, or lost data. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for SplitSama in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
Changes, law and contact
Changes. We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use SplitSama after a change means you accept it.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of India, without affecting consumer protections in the country where you live.
